Wholesale & Bulk Supply

Bulk Curtain Fabric Orders

Large projects need a pembekal who can deliver 3,000 metres of the same colour without a single roll coming out different. That's us. Artwork Fabrics supplies bulk curtain fabric across Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia — from 50-metre starter lots to full container loads.

How Bulk Ordering Actually Works

Forget what most kedai kain tell you. Bulk ordering curtain fabric is not just about calling a supplier and asking for "banyak". There is a process — and if you skip it, you end up with mismatched dye lots, late deliveries, or worse, 800 metres of fabric that your tukang jahit refuses to sew because the weave runs crooked.

We have been supplying bulk curtain fabric from our Taman Desaria warehouse since 2003. Our clients include property developers running 400-unit projects in Mont Kiara, hotel operators refurbishing 173 rooms in KLCC, and ID firms fitting out entire shophouse rows in Bangsar. Every one of them has a different set of problems. But the ordering process stays the same.

Step 1: Tell Us What You Need

Start with the basics. How many units or rooms? What window sizes? Sheer, dim-out, or full blackout? Most procurement teams already have a spec sheet — send it over via WhatsApp and we will cross-reference against our ready-stock catalogue of roughly 287 colourways.

No spec sheet? No problem. Walk in to our showroom on Jalan Klang Lama and flip through our sample books. We carry full-width cuttings for every fabric — not those tiny 5cm swatches that tell you nothing about the drape.

Step 2: We Quote by the Metre

Pricing depends on three things: fabric type, width, and quantity. A 280cm-wide polyester sheer might go for RM6-9 per metre at retail, but drop to RM4.20 at 500 metres. A 320cm premium linen-look runs RM14-22 retail and falls to around RM9.50 at volume. And our 118-inch velvet curtain fabric — that sits at RM28-38 retail, coming down to roughly RM19 per metre for orders above 300 metres.

Most suppliers won't tell you this, but the biggest cost savings on a bulk curtain fabric order come not from negotiating the per-metre price — it comes from reducing waste. We help you plan your cutting layout so you get maximum yield from every roll. On a 400-unit condo project, smart cutting saves 8-12% more fabric than a tukang jahit who just cuts as he goes.

Step 3: Dye Lot Reservation

This is where amateurs get burned. Order 1,500 metres in three batches from three different dye lots, and you will see the difference when the curtains hang side by side. Especially with lighter colours — ivory, champagne, soft grey. The variation can be subtle under showroom lights but obvious in daylight.

We solve this two ways. For orders above 500 metres, we reserve a single dye lot run from our mill. Every roll comes from the same vat. For smaller orders, we pull from our warehouse stock and batch-match — physically checking each roll against a master reference under D65 daylight simulation.

And we keep a 2-metre retention cutting from every lot for up to 18 months. If your client comes back wanting an extra set of curtains for the maid's room, we can match it.

Volume Discount Tiers

Our pricing structure rewards commitment. The more you order per colour per design, the lower your per-metre cost. Here is a general guide — exact pricing depends on the fabric range you select:

Order Quantity Discount Band Typical Lead Time
50 – 199 metres8 – 12% off retail3 – 5 working days (ready stock)
200 – 499 metres15 – 20% off retail5 – 10 working days
500 – 999 metres22 – 28% off retail4 – 6 weeks (indent)
1,000 – 2,999 metresCustom project pricing6 – 8 weeks
3,000+ metresMill-direct negotiation8 – 12 weeks

These tiers apply per colour per design. So if you need 300 metres of ivory sheer and 250 metres of the same sheer in dove grey, each colour qualifies at its own tier — 200-499 band. But if you need 550 metres total of a single colourway, you jump to the 500-999 tier. Simple.

Lead Times and Seasonal Reality

Ready stock ships fast. Three to five working days within Peninsular Malaysia for anything we hold in our Petaling Jaya warehouse. We carry around 145 fabric ranges in stock at any given time, across sheers, dim-outs, blackouts, and decorative prints.

Indent orders — fabrics we bring in from mills in China, Turkey, or Belgium — take longer. Four to six weeks is normal. Custom colourways push it to eight to ten weeks because the mill has to prepare a lab-dip, we approve it, and then production begins.

But here's what catches people off guard. During CNY season — roughly December through late January — lead times stretch by two to three weeks minimum. The mills in Shaoxing and Haining shut for about 15 days, and every fabric buyer in Southeast Asia is scrambling for stock at the same time. Pre-Raya is another crunch period.

Plan ahead. If your project handover falls in Q1, place your indent orders by October at the latest.

Delivery Logistics for Large Orders

A 500-metre order of 280cm fabric weighs roughly 190kg and fills about 6 rolls. A 3,000-metre order might be 35-40 rolls on a pallet. We handle both.

Within Klang Valley, delivery is free for orders above RM5,000. Our lorry team delivers to site with a call-ahead — no dumping at the guard house. For developer projects with phased handover, we split deliveries by block and floor. Each roll is labelled with unit references so your installer knows exactly which fabric goes where.

Outstation delivery to Penang, JB, Ipoh, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching goes through our logistics partners. Transit time is typically two to four working days for Peninsular, five to seven for East Malaysia. Freight cost depends on weight and destination — we quote it separately.

One thing we insist on: every delivery includes a packing list cross-referenced to your purchase order. Roll numbers, dye lot codes, metreage per roll — all documented. This matters when you are tracking fabric across 12 blocks on a 627-unit project.

Quality Standards We Hold To

All our curtain fabrics are tested to international standards before we stock them. Colour fastness to light? Grade 5-6 minimum on the blue wool scale for anything going near a window. Martindale abrasion? 15,000 cycles minimum for decorative fabrics, 25,000 for high-traffic hotel applications. Fabric weight ranges from 85gsm for sheer voiles up to 340gsm for heavy blackout.

We supply test certificates on request. If your project requires specific fire retardancy ratings — BS 5867 Part 2 for contract use, for example — we carry FR-treated options and can provide the lab reports your building management needs.

Working with an interior design firm? We offer a separate partnership programme with reserved sample sets, dedicated account management, and priority re-stocking for your favourite ranges. It sits alongside our bulk ordering service and many firms use both.

Common Questions

Bulk Order FAQ

Our standard MOQ is 50 metres per colour per design. For popular ready-stock ranges like our 280cm sheer voile and 320cm linen-look polyester, we can go as low as 30 metres. If you need a custom colourway dyed to your specification, the minimum jumps to 150 metres per colour because the mill cannot justify a dye run for less.
For orders above 500 metres, we reserve a full dye lot run from our mill — every roll comes from the same vat. For smaller orders, we batch-match from warehouse stock under D65 daylight simulation. We retain a 2-metre cutting from each dye lot for up to 18 months, so future top-up orders can be matched accurately. For multi-phase developer projects, we strongly recommend ordering all phases upfront.
As a general guide: 50-199 metres gets 8-12% off retail, 200-499 metres gets 15-20% off, 500-999 metres gets 22-28% off, and orders above 1,000 metres receive custom project pricing. Exact numbers depend on the fabric type — a 280cm polyester sheer and a 320cm Belgian linen have very different base costs. WhatsApp us your fabric selection and quantity for a precise quotation.
This is exactly why we keep dye lot retention cuttings. If the same dye lot is still available from the mill, we reorder from it. If not, we match against our retained cutting under controlled lighting. For critical colour matches, we send you a comparison swatch before producing the top-up order. We recommend ordering 5-8% extra upfront as a contingency buffer — it is almost always cheaper than placing a second small order later.
Yes. We regularly handle split deliveries for developer projects with multiple blocks or phases. Each site shipment is individually labelled with unit and block references. Within Klang Valley, free delivery for orders above RM5,000. Outstation to Penang, JB, Kuantan, and East Malaysia is arranged through our logistics partners at cost — we quote the freight separately so you know exactly what you are paying.
We supply free A5-size swatches for up to 10 fabric selections. Once you have shortlisted, we provide 1-metre sample lengths at cost so your curtain maker or tukang jahit can do a test sew and check the drape. Full sample books are available for collection at our Jalan Klang Lama showroom, or we courier them out. For developer and hotel projects, we can prepare a dedicated sample board with your shortlisted fabrics mounted and labelled.
