Bulk school curtain fabric from our Petaling Jaya warehouse — fire-rated, machine-washable, and priced for government and private school budgets. We've supplied over 140 schools across Peninsular Malaysia since 2004.
Schools are rough on curtains. Thirty kids in a classroom, hands grabbing fabric, chalk dust settling into every weave, windows left open during rain — standard residential curtain fabric won't last a year in that environment. That's not opinion. We've seen it firsthand, replacing cheap fabric barely six months after installation at an SK in Subang Jaya.
School curtain fabric needs to hit three marks: durability, fire safety, and a price point that doesn't blow the school's maintenance budget. Miss any one of those and the procurement officer is back at the kedai kain within the year.
We stock classroom curtain fabric specifically rated for institutional use. Our best-selling school range starts at RM8.50 per metre for a 118-inch width polyester weave — tough enough for daily abuse, machine-washable at 40°C, and colourfast to Grade 4 under ISO 105 testing. Most suppliers on Jalan Ipoh or Jalan TAR carry residential stock and call it "suitable for schools." But the GSM tells the real story. Residential fabric runs 120-160gsm. Our institutional range? 220gsm minimum, going up to 340gsm for assembly hall drapes.
And the width matters. A lot.
Standard classroom windows in Malaysian government schools run about 240cm wide. With a 280cm or 320cm fabric width, you get full coverage in a single drop — no centre seam, no joining charge, no ugly vertical line running down the middle of every window. We carry fabrics in 110-inch (280cm) and 118-inch (300cm) widths specifically for this reason. Your tukang jahit saves time, the school saves money on sewing charges, and the finished curtain looks cleaner.
Every school built after 2010 has at least one dedicated AV room or computer lab. Some newer SJK(C) schools in Cheras and Puchong have three or four. These rooms need full blackout curtain fabric — not "dimout," not "room-darkening." Actual blackout. If a projector image washes out because the curtains let light through, the whole room is useless during daytime hours.
Our 3-pass blackout fabric blocks 99.7% of light at 280gsm. Comes in 23 colourways including the dark navy and forest green that schools typically spec. Price runs RM12 to RM15 per metre for the 118-inch width, which is competitive against anything you'll find at Jalan Ipoh's fabric district.
Most suppliers won't tell you this, but standard blackout fabric without fire-retardant treatment technically fails BOMBA inspection for school halls above 200 square metres. We carry FR-treated blackout that passes BS 5867 Part 2 Type B. Costs about RM2.50 more per metre, but saves the headache of failing a fire safety audit after installation. We've seen contractors rip down brand-new curtains in a school in Kajang because the fabric didn't have the right fire cert. That's RM15,000 wasted.
The hall is where fire safety gets serious. BOMBA classifies school assembly halls as public gathering spaces — same category as hotel ballrooms and convention centres. Every metre of fabric hanging in that space needs documented fire resistance.
For stage curtains and hall drapes, velvet curtain fabric remains the standard choice. Our FR-treated velvet runs at 340gsm, available in 54-inch width (stage curtains are usually sewn in panels anyway). Deep maroon, black, and royal blue are the three colours schools request most. We keep roughly 1,200 metres of FR velvet in ready stock at any time.
But here's a budget tip most pembekal won't share: for side-wall draping in halls — not the stage front — you can use our heavy polyester dimout at 260gsm instead of velvet. Same visual weight from a distance, half the price, and it passes the same fire test. We've done this specification for MRSM halls and nobody can tell the difference from the audience seats.
FR-treated fabrics tested to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B and NFPA 701. Fire certificates provided with every bulk order for BOMBA compliance documentation.
220-340gsm weight range with Martindale abrasion resistance exceeding 25,000 cycles. Built to handle high-traffic school environments for 5+ years without replacement.
Starting from RM8.50 per metre at 118-inch width. Bulk discounts for whole-school projects above 300 metres. Government LPO and PO terms accepted.
Over 47 colours in school-grade fabric available ex-warehouse at Jalan Klang Lama. Walk-in collection or delivery within Klang Valley in 2-3 working days.
Machine-washable at 40°C with no ironing needed. Colourfast to Grade 4 — survives industrial laundry cycles that schools typically use during term breaks.
110-inch and 118-inch widths cover standard Malaysian school windows in a single drop. No centre seams, reduced tailoring cost, faster installation across all classrooms.
The procurement process is different. We know that.
Government school purchases typically go through the PIBG or direct JKR allocation. Private and international schools have their own purchasing departments, often requiring quotations in specific formats with GST breakdowns, delivery schedules, and installation milestone payments. We handle both.
For government schools (SK, SMK, SJK, MRSM), we accept LPO (Local Purchase Order) and standard government PO with 30-day payment terms. Our quotations include all the line items that JPN requires — fabric type, width, weight per square metre, fire certification reference, and per-metre pricing inclusive of delivery within Klang Valley.
Private schools and international schools usually want a different approach. They'll send the architect's specification sheet and expect matching fabric samples within a week. We've supplied classroom curtain fabric to international schools in Mont Kiara, Sri Hartamas, and Kota Damansara — the specs vary wildly. One school wanted a specific Pantone shade of grey-blue across 84 classrooms. That's an indent order, 4-6 weeks lead time, but we matched it to within Delta E 1.5.
Contractors handling school renovation tenders — you're our bread and butter. We understand tender pricing. Request a sample book, get your per-metre pricing locked in writing for 60 days, and we hold stock allocation against your confirmed PO. During November to January, when most school renovations happen between terms, stock moves fast. Get your PO in early.
Not every room needs the same fabric. Here's what we recommend based on supplying educational institution curtain projects across Selangor, KL, and Perak:
We can provide a complete fabric specification sheet with pricing for your entire school project. Just send us the room list with approximate window sizes via WhatsApp. You'll get a quotation within one working day — two if it's a big school with 30-plus rooms.
For school drapery supplier pricing, we structure discounts by total meterage:
Orders above 300 metres get a 7% discount off list price. Above 500 metres, that goes to 12%. We've done whole-school projects hitting 800-1,200 metres for larger SMK schools — those get custom pricing that we'll discuss directly. The point is, the more classrooms you're fitting out in one go, the better the per-metre rate.
Delivery is free within Klang Valley for orders above 200 metres. Outstation delivery (Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor) attracts a flat RM150-RM350 transport charge depending on distance. East Malaysia? We ship by cargo, takes about 5-7 working days to Kota Kinabalu or Kuching.
Container delays from China ports have eased since early 2025, so indent orders are back to normal 4-6 week timelines. But if you're working against a school-opening deadline, stick with our ready stock range — 47 colours, available tomorrow from our Taman Desaria warehouse.
If you're a contractor bidding on school furnishing tenders, here's how to work with us efficiently.
First: visit the showroom. Our place is at Lot 1509, Batu 8, Jalan Klang Lama in Taman Desaria — just past the Shell station if you're coming from the Federal Highway. Parking behind the building. Walk through the sample room, pull the fabrics, feel the weight yourself. The difference between 180gsm and 240gsm is obvious in your hand but invisible in a catalogue photo.
Second: take sample books. We don't charge for them. Your tukang jahit and the school's procurement committee both need to see and approve physical swatches before the PO is issued. We've had contractors lose bids because they submitted digital colour references instead of actual fabric samples. Don't make that mistake.
And third — this is important — get your fire certificate sorted upfront. If the tender spec requires BOMBA-compliant fabric for halls or any room above a certain occupancy, confirm with us which specific fabric SKUs carry the fire test report. We provide the BS 5867 test certificate as a PDF. Some tender evaluators score this as a pass/fail item. No cert, no tender. Simple.
We work with hotel curtain fabric contractors and office curtain suppliers the same way — sample book out, pricing locked, stock held against PO. The process is identical for school projects, just different fabric specs.
Stock runs low before Raya and during the November-December school renovation window. If your project falls in those periods, order your fabric allocation at least 3 weeks ahead. We've turned away walk-in orders during peak season simply because the warehouse was cleaned out. Forward planning solves that.
Our MOQ for institutional supply is 50 metres per colour. For school projects requiring multiple colourways, we can split across 2-3 colours with a combined minimum of 100 metres. Walk-in customers buying smaller quantities pay standard retail metre rates.
Yes. We carry fabrics tested to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B and NFPA 701 standards, which satisfy Malaysian BOMBA requirements for public buildings including schools, assembly halls, and auditoriums. Fire test certificates are provided with bulk orders at no extra charge.
Absolutely. We regularly supply full-school projects with different fabric specifications per area — blackout for AV rooms and computer labs, semi-sheer for classrooms to keep natural light, and heavy drape fabric for assembly halls and stages. One PO, one supplier, one delivery.
Ready stock fabrics ship within 2-3 working days from our PJ warehouse. For indent orders (custom colours or specific FR-treated fabric), allow 4-6 weeks. During peak school renovation season (November-January), ready stock moves fast — place orders early to avoid delays.
We provide physical sample books for contractors and procurement officers handling school projects. Walk into our showroom at Jalan Klang Lama or request a sample book by WhatsApp. For large tenders, we can send fabric swatches by courier — typically arrives within 2 working days in Peninsular Malaysia.
Send us your room list and window measurements. We'll prepare a full specification sheet with pricing within one working day — covering classrooms, labs, halls, and every area in between.
