Three ways to sample our fabrics
Individual swatches for quick checks. Large memos for client presentations. Full sample books when you need the whole range on hand.
Most pembekal in the Jalan Klang Lama fabric district will cut you a swatch if you walk in. That is fine for one-off jobs. But if you are quoting a condo project in Mont Kiara with 147 units, or pitching langsir to a hotel group across 3 properties, you need a proper sampling system. Not scraps torn off the roll.
Individual swatches
Our standard swatch is roughly 10cm by 15cm, cut from the actual roll in stock. Enough to judge colour accuracy, hand feel, and fabric weight. We cut swatches from any of the roughly 287 colourways across our linen, velvet, blackout, sheer, and dimout collections. Trade customers get up to 15 swatches per request, no charge.
And here is something most suppliers will not tell you: the swatch should come from the same dye lot you will eventually order. Otherwise you are showing your client one colour and delivering another. We cut from ready stock rolls, so what you sample is what ships.
Large memo samples
For client presentations, a 10cm square does not cut it. Our memo samples run about 30cm by 40cm, large enough to drape over a table or pin to a board alongside paint chips and flooring samples. Interior designers and tukang jahit doing walk-throughs at the client's home find these indispensable. The memo shows pattern repeat, drape quality, and how the fabric catches light in real room conditions.
Memo samples are available at a nominal cutting charge. The charge is waived when you proceed with an order of 50 metres or more from that fabric range.
Sample book loans
For large-scale specification work, a developer curtain fabric package of 200+ units, say, you may want the entire collection in hand. We loan complete sample books for up to 14 days on a refundable deposit basis. Each book contains swatches of every colourway in that range, organised by weight and category. This is standard practice for developer projects and hospitality fit-outs where the ID firm needs sign-off from multiple stakeholders.
Full-width strike-offs
Sometimes a swatch is not enough and the client needs to see the full 280cm or 300cm width. We can cut a 50cm length from any ready stock roll. This is charged at the per-metre fabric rate: typically RM8 to RM18 per metre depending on the fabric type. For bulk curtain fabric orders above MOQ 50 metres, we will credit the strike-off cost against your order.

Requesting samples: step by step
The process is different for trade and non-trade customers, but both are straightforward. Here is what to expect.
For trade customers (curtain makers, IDs, retailers)
Drop us a WhatsApp message. State the fabric type you are after, blackout, sheer, linen-look, velvet, whatever you need, along with your preferred colourway or colour direction. If you already know the design name or code from our website, include that too. We will confirm stock availability, cut the swatches from the live roll, and post them out the same day if the request comes in before 3pm.
Delivery within the Klang Valley takes 2 to 3 working days. Outstation to places like Penang, JB, or Kuantan runs 4 to 7 days depending on the courier. No charge for standard swatches. We cover the postage for trade accounts.
Walk-in is faster. Our showroom at Lot 1509, Batu 8, Jalan Klang Lama, Taman Desaria is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday until 2pm. You can flip through every sample book, feel the fabric in hand, and walk out with swatches on the spot. Many of the kedai kain along Jalan Klang Lama send their staff over to check new arrivals. Easy enough.
For homeowners and non-trade customers
We primarily serve the trade, but homeowners are welcome to request samples too. A small cutting fee of RM3 to RM5 per swatch applies, plus postage. This is refundable against your first order, so it is really just a deposit. The cutting fee exists because we get a lot of one-off requests from people browsing, and it helps us focus resources on serious enquiries.
If you are a homeowner working with a curtain maker or interior designer, the easiest route is to ask your tukang langsir to request swatches on your behalf through their trade account. They will get the samples faster and at no cost.
What to include in your sample request
The more detail you give us, the better we can match fabrics to your project. But do not overthink it. Even a rough description helps.
- Fabric type: blackout, dimout, sheer, linen, velvet, or you are open to suggestions
- Colour direction: "warm beige", "off-white", "dark grey", or even a Pantone if you have one
- Project type: condo, hotel, office, shophouse, landed house, show unit
- Width needed: most of our stock runs 280cm (110") or 300cm (118"), but some sheers come in 54" widths
- Weight preference if you know it: lighter sheers sit around 45gsm to 80gsm, mid-weight dimouts 180gsm to 240gsm, heavy blackouts 260gsm to 320gsm
- Quantity estimate: even a rough figure like "about 200 metres" or "per bidang, maybe 12 windows" helps us suggest the right price tier

Get pricing per metre
Once you have settled on the fabric, we quote wholesale pricing based on your volume. Trade rates start from RM8 per metre for basic sheers up to RM18 for premium velvets.

Confirm quantity, delivery address, and timeline. MOQ is 50 metres per colourway for wholesale pricing. Smaller cuts available at retail rates with a cutting charge.
When will your samples arrive?
Timing depends on how you collect and where you are located. Here is an honest breakdown so you can plan around it.
Walk-in at our Taman Desaria showroom is the fastest option. You touch the fabric, pick your colours, and leave with swatches in hand. Takes about 20 minutes if you already know what you are looking for. Longer if you want to browse the full range, obviously.
Posted samples within Klang Valley ship same-day for requests received before 3pm, Monday to Friday. Courier delivery typically takes 2 to 3 working days. We use J&T and PosLaju depending on weight.
Outstation delivery to Penang, Johor Bahru, Melaka, Kuantan, and other Peninsular locations runs 4 to 5 working days. East Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, add another 2 to 3 days on top. Air freight is available for urgent requests but at additional cost.
One honest note on timing. Stock runs low before Raya and CNY. Lead times stretch during these periods because demand spikes and our cutting team is working through a backlog. If your project has a hard deadline around these festive seasons, request samples early. We have seen designers lose out on a specific colourway because they waited until two weeks before installation to start sampling.
And container delays from China ports can affect restock schedules. If a particular fabric is running low, we will tell you upfront so you can decide whether to wait or pick an alternative from ready stock.

Are curtain fabric samples free for trade customers?
Yes. Trade customers including curtain makers, interior designers, and furnishing retailers can request fabric swatches at no charge. We provide individual cuttings from ready stock collections. For non-trade or homeowner requests, a small cutting fee of RM3 to RM5 per swatch may apply, refundable against your first fabric order.
How many fabric samples can I request at one time?
Trade customers can request up to 15 individual swatches per request at no charge. If you need more, or require large memo samples for client presentations, just let us know your project scope and we will work out an arrangement. Sample book loans are also available for established trade accounts.
How long does it take to receive fabric samples?
For walk-in customers at our Petaling Jaya showroom, you can collect samples the same day. Posted samples within Klang Valley typically arrive in 2 to 3 working days. Outstation delivery to Penang, Johor, and East Malaysia takes 4 to 7 working days depending on location and courier availability.
What size are the fabric sample swatches?
Standard swatches are roughly 10cm by 15cm, enough to assess colour, texture, and weight. Large memo samples for client presentations measure approximately 30cm by 40cm and show drape and pattern repeat more clearly. Full-width strike-offs of about 50cm length are available for project specification and are charged at the per-metre fabric rate.
Can I borrow a full sample book instead of individual swatches?
Yes. Artwork Fabrics offers sample book loans for established trade accounts. You can borrow a complete collection book for up to 14 days, which is useful when presenting a full range to clients or specifying fabrics for developer projects. A refundable deposit applies. Do you post fabric samples outstation within Malaysia?
Yes. We courier fabric samples nationwide across Peninsular Malaysia and to East Malaysia. Delivery within Klang Valley is typically 2 to 3 working days. Outstation delivery to states like Penang, Johor, Pahang, and Sabah or Sarawak takes 4 to 7 working days. Postage cost depends on the number of swatches and destination.
