Artwork Fabrics has been shipping curtain material to Kedah for over two decades. We courier to Kedah three to four working days, standard. Alor Setar, Sungai Petani, Kulim, Jitra — all reachable within that window. Langkawi takes an extra day or two because of the ferry freight from Kuala Perlis, but we've streamlined that route over the years.

What Kedah Curtain Makers Order Most

Kedah projects skew residential and hospitality. Different from KL projects where you get a lot of commercial office work. Here's what moves:

• Linen and linen-blend sheers — popular for landed homes in Alor Setar's newer townships. The 118-inch width covers most standard windows without seaming, and customers up north prefer the natural drape over synthetic alternatives.
• Blackout fabric in 280gsm and above — resort projects on Langkawi demand this. Guests want pitch-dark rooms. The 3-pass coated blackout we stock handles humidity without peeling, which matters for island installations.
• Mid-weight velvet at 320gsm — less common up north than in KL condos, but Langkawi's boutique hotels have been ordering more of this. The thermal weight helps with air-conditioning efficiency.
• Dim-out sheers — the compromise fabric. Filters about 70% of light while keeping rooms bright enough during the day. Tukang jahit in Sungai Petani tell us their clients want this for living rooms specifically.

Langkawi Resort Projects — Our Specialty

Langkawi is its own animal. The island's duty-free status affects some import dynamics, but curtain fabric sourced domestically — like ours — ships in without complications. No duty paperwork. Just normal freight charges.

We've supplied fabric to resort refurbishment projects in Pantai Cenang, Tanjung Rhu, and Datai Bay. These aren't small jobs. A mid-sized boutique resort with 43 rooms can easily pull 600 to 900 metres of curtain fabric across blackout, sheer, and decorative layers. Our MOQ of 50 metres per design makes it practical to mix fabrics without overcommitting on any single pattern.

And the climate factor is real. Langkawi's salt air and humidity will destroy cheap fabric within 18 months. We recommend fabrics with colour fastness grade 4 or above and mildew-resistant backing for any island project. Most resort project managers want samples before committing to 800 metres of anything. Fair enough. We send sample books via courier to your Langkawi site at no charge.
