Your Workshop Deserves a Dependable Pembekal

Running a curtain workshop means juggling customer deadlines, installer schedules, and a fabric store that needs to stay full. The last thing you want is to promise a customer a specific linen drape for their Mont Kiara condo, only to find your supplier is out of stock — again.

We get it. That frustration is exactly why most of our trade accounts are curtain makers who switched from their old kedai kain.

Artwork Fabrics keeps roughly 287 fabric options on the floor at any given time, spread across blackout, linen, sheer, velvet, and jacquard categories. Not all of them are bestsellers — some sit quietly until an interior designer requests something unusual for a Bangsar shophouse renovation. But the core 150 or so? Those stay replenished. We track what moves and reorder before the roll runs out.

Most suppliers won't tell you this, but the real cost of a fabric supplier isn't the per-metre price — it's the lost jobs when stock runs dry. A RM2 saving per metre means nothing if your customer walks because you can't deliver on time. Our curtain maker clients in Selangor have figured this out, which is why they pay a fair trade price and sleep well knowing the fabric is there when they need it.

Trade Pricing That Makes Sense

We sell to tukang jahit and curtain workshops at trade rates. No middleman markup. For bulk orders above 200 metres, pricing drops further — ring us or WhatsApp for a quote on your specific selection. Typical trade rates for curtain-grade fabrics sit between RM8 and RM17 per metre, depending on composition and weight. A solid 240gsm polyester blackout in 280cm width? Around RM11 per metre at trade. A premium Belgian-style linen blend at 300cm? That's closer to RM23.

No hidden cutting charges on full-roll purchases. Per-metre cuts from open rolls carry a small cutting fee — RM1.50 per cut — which is standard in the trade.

Stock Availability and Restocking Speed

Here's how our stock cycle works. We maintain a warehouse in Taman Desaria, right off Jalan Klang Lama. Core fabrics — the ones curtain makers order week after week — stay at minimum 300-metre buffer levels. When a colour dips below threshold, we trigger a reorder. For domestic-warehoused stock, replenishment lands in 2 to 3 working days. Mill orders from overseas take 14 to 21 days under normal conditions.

But "normal" is the key word. Stock runs low before Hari Raya every single year without fail. Container delays from Chinese ports during CNY can push lead times past 28 days. And if you're doing a hotel job in KLCC that needs 800 metres of the same dye lot — you'll want to lock that in early. We can hold reserved stock against a confirmed PO for up to 14 days.

One thing we do differently: we tell you upfront if a colour is running low. No guessing. Your trade account dashboard shows live stock levels for your saved fabrics. If something drops below 100 metres remaining, you get a WhatsApp alert. Simple.

Fabric Widths and Specifications

Width matters. A lot. For curtain making, you want railroaded widths that let you cut floor-to-ceiling drops without a horizontal seam. We stock three standard widths:

  • 54-inch (137cm) — upholstery-weight fabrics, some decorative prints, and narrow-width imports. Not ideal for full-height curtains unless you're pattern-matching panels.
  • 110-inch (280cm) — the workhorse width for most residential curtain jobs. Covers standard 9-foot ceilings with enough hem and heading allowance.
  • 118-inch (300cm) — for tall windows, double-volume living rooms, and commercial spaces. Also available in our velvet range and several blackout lines.

All our curtain fabrics come with technical data sheets. You'll find GSM weight, fibre composition, colour fastness grade (most sit at grade 4 or above to ISO 105-B02), and shrinkage percentage after washing. For commercial jobs, we can supply fabrics tested to Martindale 25,000 rubs and above — some velvet options exceed 40,000 cycles.

And for fire-retardant requirements? We carry a small but solid range meeting BS 5867 Part 2 Type B. Enough to cover most hotel and office fit-outs without needing a special import.

Working With Curtain Makers Since 2003

We've been supplying fabric to curtain workshops, tukang langsir, and interior design firms for over two decades now. Our showroom sits at Batu 8, Jalan Klang Lama — not far from the Jalan Ipoh fabric district, but in a part of PJ that's easier to park and load rolls without fighting KL traffic.

Most of our trade clients are small to mid-sized curtain makers. One-person operations running out of a workshop behind their house. Husband-and-wife teams doing residential curtains across Subang and Shah Alam. A few larger outfits handling developer turnkey packages for new condo launches.

We serve all of them the same way. Quick response on stock checks. Honest advice if a fabric isn't right for the application — we'll tell you if a 180gsm polyester won't hold up in a west-facing window, even if the customer insists on it. And flexible MOQs: 50 metres per colour for standard orders, dropping to 30 metres for specialty embroidered sheers.

The curtain tailor material supply chain in Malaysia can be unpredictable. Containers get held at Port Klang. A factory in Shaoxing switches a dye batch without warning. Raya orders spike demand across every kedai kain in the Klang Valley. But our job as your pembekal is to absorb that chaos so your workshop doesn't feel it.

What We Carry

Quick rundown of the ranges most curtain makers pull from:

  • Blackout fabrics — 3-pass and foam-back options, 280cm and 300cm widths, roughly 47 colours in stock at any time
  • Linen and linen-look — natural and blended, from sheer linen at 90gsm to heavy slub linen at 320gsm
  • Velvet — plain, embossed, and crushed finishes in 300cm width, Martindale-tested above 30,000 rubs
  • Sheers and voiles — plain, striped, embroidered, and burnout patterns for layered curtain setups
  • Jacquard and damask — traditional and modern motifs, mostly in 280cm width for residential projects
  • Outdoor and semi-outdoor — UV-resistant, mildew-treated fabrics for balcony curtains and covered patio areas

Need something we don't carry? If it exists in a mill catalogue, we can source it. Custom orders typically require 300-metre minimums and take 6 to 8 weeks from order confirmation. But for your bread-and-butter jobs, everything above is ready stock.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity for curtain fabric?

For most fabrics, the MOQ is 50 metres per colour. Some speciality fabrics like embroidered sheers may require 30 metres minimum. Walk-in purchases by the metre are available at non-trade pricing — handy for one-off sampling or small residential jobs.

Do you provide sample books for curtain makers?

Yes. We offer full sample books (buku sampel) for trade account holders at no charge. Each book covers a specific range — sheer, blackout, linen, velvet — with actual fabric swatches, not printed photos. Updated editions come out roughly every 4 months as new collections arrive.

How fast can you restock sold-out colours?

For core range fabrics, restocking from our warehouse takes 2–3 working days. If the colour needs to come from the mill, expect 14–21 days depending on the factory. During peak seasons like pre-Raya and CNY, lead times can stretch to 28 days. We send WhatsApp alerts when stock dips below 100 metres for your saved items.

Can I collect fabric directly from your PJ showroom?

Absolutely. Our showroom at Lot 1509, Batu 8, Jalan Klang Lama, Taman Desaria is open Monday to Saturday, 9am–6pm. Walk-in collection saves you delivery charges and lets you inspect the roll before cutting. Most trade customers from KL and Selangor prefer self-collection.

What fabric widths do you carry for curtain making?

We carry 54-inch (137cm), 110-inch (280cm), and 118-inch (300cm) widths. The 110-inch and 118-inch are most popular for curtain makers since they cover floor-to-ceiling windows without horizontal seams. Sheers and blackout linings are mostly available in 280cm and 300cm widths.

Do you supply fabric for hotel and commercial curtain projects?

Yes. We regularly supply curtain makers working on hotel fit-outs, serviced apartments, and commercial projects. For bulk jobs — say 500 metres or more — we can arrange mill-direct pricing and priority allocation. Fire-retardant and high-abrasion fabrics meeting BS 5867 and Martindale 30,000+ rubs are available on request.
