Fabric Type — Texture Collection
Solid colours don't have to be flat. Our textured curtain fabrics bring slub, waffle, herringbone, and crinkle finishes into play — adding visual depth without busy prints. Stocked in our PJ warehouse from RM8 per metre wholesale.
Here's something most kedai kain owners won't admit freely. When a customer says their curtains look "cheap," nine times out of ten, the problem isn't the colour. It's the surface. A flat polyester panel in the most gorgeous shade of taupe will still hang like a bedsheet. Add a slub weave or a subtle herringbone? Suddenly it looks three times the price.
Texture is the shortcut.
We've seen this play out hundreds of times at our Jalan Klang Lama warehouse. A tukang jahit walks in wanting plain cream for a condo project in Mont Kiara. We hand them two swatches — same shade, same 280cm width, similar price point. One smooth, one with a fine ribbed finish at 240gsm. They pick the textured one every single time. And their client pays more for it, which means better margins on the same curtain job.
Textured curtain fabric gives you what prints and patterns can't: sophistication that stays neutral. A velvet curtain fabric does this through pile and sheen. But textured weaves achieve it structurally, through how the yarn is interlocked, twisted, or left deliberately uneven. That's the real difference — the dimension is built into the cloth itself, not applied on top.
Slub is the one that mimics natural linen without the maintenance headaches. Those irregular thick-thin variations in the yarn create a handwoven appearance. Our slub weave curtain fabric comes in 118-inch widths (roughly 300cm), which means no seam line on standard ceiling heights. Pricing sits at RM8–14 per metre depending on the fibre blend. The 100% polyester slubs are cheapest and most popular for volume hotel jobs.
But the poly-linen blends at around RM12–14 per metre genuinely feel different. Softer drape. More natural hand. If the project brief says "organic" or "Japandi," that's the one.
A woven V-pattern that reads as structured and tailored. Our herringbone range runs 110-inch width, 220gsm to 260gsm. These sell well for shophouse renovations in Bangsar and Georgetown — the kind of project where the ID wants something that looks considered. Stock colours sit at 23 shades right now, though we rotate 4–5 colours per quarter based on what moves.
Most suppliers won't tell you this, but herringbone at widths below 110 inches means your curtain maker needs a centre join on anything taller than 2.7 metres. That join cuts through the pattern and ruins the effect. We only stock wide-width herringbone specifically because of this.
The grid-like honeycomb texture. Heavy. Substantial. Waffle texture curtain fabric from our range weighs 280–320gsm, which gives it serious body. It hangs in deep, structured folds without needing weighted tape at the hem. Best suited for master bedrooms and formal living areas. Price range: RM18–24 per metre.
Fair warning — waffle is heavier than most tukang jahit expect. If they're using a standard domestic sewing machine, the thicker waffles at 310gsm and up can jam. We always recommend industrial machines for waffle fabric curtains.
Horizontal ridges running across the fabric face. Clean, contemporary, almost architectural. Our ribbed curtain material is the favourite among IDs working on commercial projects — coworking spaces in Damansara, lobbies in Cyberjaya, that sort of brief. Width: 118 inches. Weight: 200–250gsm. RM14–19 per metre. We carry 18 colours in ready stock.
Pre-textured with a permanent wrinkled finish, so it never needs ironing. Genuinely. These ship pre-crushed from the mill and the effect holds through washing. The crinkle range is narrower — 54-inch width only — so it's sold per bidang for side panels or accent curtains rather than full-width drops. RM9–13 per metre. Popular with Airbnb hosts who want a bohemian look without the upkeep.
Why Artwork Fabrics
Not 5 token samples buried in a general catalogue. We carry 47 dedicated textured curtain fabrics across slub, waffle, rib, herringbone, and crinkle — all physically in our Taman Desaria warehouse.
We specifically stock 110-inch and 118-inch widths so your curtain panels hang without ugly centre joins. Narrower widths only appear in specialty lines like crinkle, where the application suits it.
Sample cuttings on the spot for walk-ins. Fabric weight and shrinkage data printed on every bolt tag. We tell your tukang jahit exactly which needle gauge and machine tension to use.
Volume pricing for curtain contractors, pembekal, and interior designers. MOQ 50 metres per colour on ready stock items. No cutting charge on full-roll purchases.
Ready stock means ready now. Drive to Batu 8, Jalan Klang Lama, load your rolls, and go. We process walk-in orders within 30 minutes during business hours. Outstation shipping via courier takes 2–4 days peninsula-wide.
Colour fastness grades, Martindale abrasion counts, pilling resistance — we provide mill test reports on request. Not vague claims. Actual lab numbers your client can verify.
If you're an ID or curtain contractor quoting a project, here's the practical framework. Texture choice depends on three things: the light situation, the room function, and whether anyone is actually going to touch the curtain.
High-traffic areas — hotel lobbies, restaurant partitions, coworking pods — need textures that hide wear. Ribbed and herringbone top the list here. They score well on Martindale abrasion tests (our herringbone line averages 28,000 cycles) and minor snags don't show as obviously as they would on a smooth face.
Bedrooms and residential living rooms are more forgiving. That's where waffle and slub weaves shine. The deeper texture catches side light beautifully, especially with warm-toned LEDs that most condos in KL use these days. A 280gsm waffle in charcoal hung in a Bangsar South bedroom — we've seen photos from a client's project — looked more expensive than the RM22/metre price tag suggested.
For Airbnbs and serviced apartments where maintenance matters, crinkle is clever. No ironing needed. Ever. The permanent crush finish means it always looks intentionally relaxed, even after machine washing.
Most textured curtain fabrics are semi-sheer to medium weight. If a project needs genuine light blocking, don't rely on the texture fabric alone. Layer it with a separate blackout curtain fabric on a double-track system, or have your tukang jahit sew a blackout lining directly behind the textured face. The heavier waffles above 280gsm will block around 60-70% of light on their own, but that's not true blackout.
And one more thing. Stock runs unpredictably before major holidays — Hari Raya and Chinese New Year are the worst. If you have a project timeline landing in Q1, place your textured fabric order at least 6 weeks ahead. We try to buffer stock, but container delays from Ningbo and Shanghai ports have been adding 2–3 weeks to replenishment cycles since late last year.
All our dimensional curtain fabric lines carry a minimum colour fastness rating of Grade 4 on the grey scale (ISO 105-B02). What does that mean practically? Curtains hung in direct west-facing sun won't noticeably fade for roughly 3–5 years. Our premium herringbone and waffle lines test at Grade 4–5, which stretches that to 5–7 years.
We keep the mill certificates on file. If your client's ID or the developer's QS asks for documentation, we provide it within a working day. This matters on hotel tenders and government projects where specification compliance is checked.
Common Questions
We stock slub weave, herringbone, waffle, ribbed, and crinkle textured curtain fabrics. Most are available in 110-inch and 118-inch widths with weights ranging from 180gsm to 320gsm. Our PJ warehouse carries roughly 47 active SKUs across these texture categories.
For ready stock textured fabrics, the MOQ is 50 metres per colour. If you need a custom colourway or special weave, the MOQ goes up to 300 metres per colour with a 4–6 week lead time from the mill.
Wholesale pricing for textured curtain fabric ranges from RM8 to RM28 per metre depending on the weave complexity, fibre blend, and weight. Basic slub weaves start around RM8–12 per metre, while premium waffle and herringbone textures run RM18–28 per metre.
Yes. Walk into our Jalan Klang Lama showroom and we'll cut free samples on the spot. For outstation buyers, we can courier a sample book with up to 15 swatches — just cover the Pos Laju charges. Sample books take 2–3 working days to prepare.
Most textured fabrics are semi-sheer to medium opacity on their own. For full blackout, we recommend pairing them with a separate blackout lining sewn behind. Our heavier waffle and ribbed options at 280gsm and above block around 60–70% of light without additional lining.
Depends on the fibre content. Polyester-dominant textured fabrics (80% poly or higher) resist wrinkling well and recover shape after machine wash. Blends with higher cotton or linen content will crease more — but many of our textured fabrics are intentionally crinkled, so slight wrinkling actually enhances the look.
