Walk into any kedai kain along Jalan Ipoh or the Kampung Baru fabric stretch and ask for "sheer fabric." You'll get shown organza, chiffon, maybe some stiff polyester netting. But voile sits in its own category entirely — and most fabric shops here don't bother explaining why.
Voile has a tighter weave than standard sheer mesh. That matters.
Because of that denser construction, voile curtain fabric filters roughly 38–45% of incoming sunlight while still letting you see tree outlines and sky through it. Standard sheers block maybe 15–20%. Organza blocks a similar amount but feels rigid — hang it by a window and it just stands there like a stiff board. Voile moves. It breathes with the air-conditioning draft, puddles softly on a floor, and gathers into fluid folds on a curtain track without bunching awkwardly at the pleat heads.
For tukang jahit who sew curtains daily, the difference shows up at the machine. Voile feeds smoothly under the presser foot. Organza slips. Cheap polyester mesh puckers at seams unless you drop your tension to almost nothing. And your customer notices that finish quality when the langsir hangs in their living room.
Cotton voile has a gorgeous hand-feel straight off the roll. No argument there. It drapes with a natural weight that polyester can't quite replicate, and designers working on high-end bungalow projects in places like Damansara Heights sometimes specify it for that very reason.
But here's what most suppliers won't tell you: cotton voile shrinks 4–7% after the first wash cycle. In a country where we run air-conditioning 14 hours a day and the humidity still sits at 75–82%, cotton voile will develop mildew spots within 8–12 months if it's anywhere near a bathroom window or an under-ventilated room. We've seen it happen in Bangsar shophouses and Mont Kiara condos alike. The fabric yellows from UV exposure faster too — cotton has almost zero UV resistance compared to polyester's colour fastness rating of Grade 4–5 on the grey scale.
Our recommendation for 90% of residential projects in Malaysia? Polyester voile. Save the cotton voile for show apartments, photography shoots, or clients with a dedicated dry-cleaning budget.

Our voile curtain fabric range comes in two primary widths: 280cm and 320cm. The 320cm width outsells the 280cm by roughly 3-to-1 here in Malaysia — and for good reason. Floor-to-ceiling windows in newer condos run about 270–290cm in height. A 320cm width lets your customer hang from ceiling track to floor with enough fabric for a clean 5cm puddle or a neat break, no horizontal seaming required. One piece, one drop.
Weight ranges from 45gsm for our lightest pure polyester voile up to about 85gsm for heavier cotton-poly blends. The sweet spot for most curtain makers is the 55–65gsm range — heavy enough to hang straight without fluttering excessively under ceiling fans, light enough to gather tightly on a pencil-pleat tape without creating bulk.

White. Off-white. Ivory. Cream. Light grey. And a warm taupe that developers love for show units because it photographs beautifully and doesn't clash with any wall paint.
The remaining colours — dusty pink, sage green, powder blue, champagne gold, charcoal — move in smaller quantities, mostly for boutique hotel projects and interior designers doing feature windows. We keep ready stock of the top 6 at all times. The rest are available with 7–12 working days lead time, depending on what's sitting in our bonded warehouse versus what needs to come off a container.
And fair warning: stock runs low before Hari Raya every year. If you're supplying condo projects with handover dates in March or April, place your voile order by January. We've had pembekal wait until February and end up paying 15–20% more for air-freight stock from our backup mill in Shaoxing because the regular sea containers were fully booked.
The most common setup we see from curtain makers in Klang Valley: voile sheer on the window-side track, blackout fabric on the room-side track. Double bracket, double track. Client gets soft filtered light during the day by drawing just the voile, full darkness at night with the blackout pulled across.
Some designers working on luxury apartments have started doing triple layers. Voile closest to glass. A mid-weight linen curtain fabric in the middle for texture. Blackout at the back. Three tracks. It looks incredible — but that's a premium install, and your customer needs to understand the cost before you quote.
For budget condo projects where the developer wants "sheer curtains included" in the unit package, a single-layer voile on a simple ceiling track is standard. RM8–15 per metre for the fabric, depending on which grade. Most developers buying 200+ units will pick whatever is cheapest that still looks presentable. That's our 45gsm polyester voile in off-white — the workhorse of Malaysian condo fit-outs.

If you're quoting a developer project — 50 units, 200 units, 400 units — voile is almost always in the specification for the sheer layer. The question is which grade and at what price point.

Longer than that and we can't guarantee — container shipping costs from China fluctuate monthly, and the ringgit exchange rate moves enough to shift our landed cost by 3–8% in either direction. We got burned holding 60-day quotes during the 2024 Red Sea shipping disruptions. Thirty days is fair.

Curtain makers working in the KL city centre area — KLCC, Bukit Bintang, KL Sentral — can arrange delivery or collect from our PJ location. It's a 25-minute drive outside of peak hour.
Voile has a soft, fluid drape and feels almost like a fine cotton — it hangs with gentle folds and moves with the wind. Organza is stiffer and more structured, holding its shape like a starched sheet. For most residential curtain projects in Malaysia, voile gives a more natural, relaxed look compared to organza's formal stiffness. If you're doing floor-to-ceiling sheers in a condo, voile is almost always the better pick.
We carry 280cm and 320cm widths. The 320cm is our bestseller by far because it covers standard Malaysian condo ceiling heights (270–290cm) in a single drop without horizontal seams. Some of our embroidered voile lines are only available in 280cm — check with our team on specific patterns.
Polyester voile handles Malaysian humidity far better. It resists mould, holds its shape after washing, and maintains colour even with daily sun exposure. Cotton voile looks beautiful initially but tends to shrink 4–7% after the first wash and can develop mildew spots within a year in high-humidity areas. We recommend polyester for the vast majority of residential work here.
Our MOQ for wholesale pricing is 50 metres per colour. Walk-in purchases at our PJ warehouse have no minimum — buy per metre at retail price. If you're a registered trade customer, sample cuts of up to 30cm are free.
Absolutely. Voile is commonly used as a standalone sheer in living rooms and dining areas where full privacy isn't the main concern. For bedrooms, most of our customers pair voile with a blackout curtain on a double-track system — daytime softness from the voile, nighttime privacy from the blackout.
Yes. We ship to Sabah and Sarawak via cargo — 5–7 working days to KK and Kuching. A 50-metre roll of voile weighs about 6–8kg, so freight costs stay quite reasonable compared to heavier fabric types like velvet.
